施比受更為有福 - 董東儀
我信基督是在高中的時候。在我信基督之前，我不知道什麼是愛。因為我在一個貧窮的家庭長大，而我的父母一直爲了錢而爭吵，所以我有時把人們的好意當作理所當然。我記得第一次去教會參加聖誕節慶祝會時，我就問人要聖誕禮物。但是經過這些年，神已經改變了我，讓我從一個接受者變成給予者，因為有一節聖經經文一直留在我的心裡，“施比受更爲有福”。 (使徒行傳 20:35)
神常鼓勵我把這節經文付諸行動，因此自2003年起我便在西雅圖作義務暑期班教師。雖然我必須支付自己的機票和膳食，但是我為能夠服務那些需要幫助的人而感到高興和幸福。此外，我還曾與我的同事們一起在一所當地小學的造單車活動中參加志願工作，而我們做義工服務的照片被刊登在公司的志願者主頁，因此我在公司裏變得頗有名聲。
人們總是說，在工作上交朋友很困難。我很幸運，我與舊同事和當前工作的同事都能作朋友。即使我們今天在不同的公司工作，我們也保持了友誼。當神改變了我從接受者成為給予者時，我可以很容易地與人建立關係。

From A Taker To Giver -

I believed in Christ when I was a high school student. Before I believed in Christ, I did not know what love was. Because I grew up in a poor family, and my parents would always fight over due to money, I sometime took people’s kindness for granted. I remembered when I first went to church to celebrate Christmas, I asked people for Christmas gifts. But God has changed me from a taker to a giver over these years since there is a Bible verse that always stays in my heart, “It is more blessed to give than to receive.” (Act 20:35)
God has encouraged me to put this verse into practice. Therefore, I have volunteered as a summer school teacher in Seattle since 2003. Although I have to pay for my own flight tickets and meals, I feel so happy and blessed when I serve those people who need help. Also, I volunteered with my colleagues at a local elementary school bike building event. The photo that was taken at the event got selected for my company’s volunteer home page, and I got recognized at my workplace because of that.
People always say it is tough to make friends at work. I have been blessed that I make friends with my coworkers in current and previous jobs. We have maintained friendship even when we work in different companies today. When God has changed me from a taker to giver, I can easily build relationship with other people.
