主能改變個性 - 黃瑞貞
我叫黃瑞貞 ，來自中國廣州，從小個性內向怕事。媽媽告訴我小時候每當有人來家裡作客，我都會躲到房間黑暗角落裡不敢見人，一直躲到客人離去或爸媽把我拉出來。爸媽曾擔心我會否有自閉傾向。讀小學時，我最害怕的是收到學校成績單，害怕的不是看到分數，而是每次成績單上的評語欄老師必定會寫 “性格內向怕事，要多舉手發言”。
我一直想改變這方面的個性，想要更進步。曾經多次靠意志力逼自己多在班上舉手發言，有成功的但多是失敗。漸漸地發現這不單是因為自己的個性內向，也是因為自卑，喜歡與別人比較，總覺得自己不夠好。
初中時移民來美國，在偶然機會下認識了主耶穌 ，明白到神造人的目的，我在神心目中的價值。聖經上說「神差他獨生子到世間來，使我們藉著他得生，神愛我們的心在此就顯明了。」(約翰一書4:9) 我明白到自己竟然值得神差祂的獨生子主耶穌從天到地來尋找，我竟然是如此的特別，如此的重要。我慢慢地變得不再經常與人比較，自然減少了自卑感，多了自信心，也更容易在人前表達自己。
我的專業是設計繪畫，很多時候要在眾人面前演講和匯報方案。始終個性使然，在多人面前說話仍會緊張害怕，有時還會緊張到手發抖聲音也顫抖。於是每一次演講前我都會禱告依靠主，禱告完後，知道無限偉大的神是那加給我力量的，心裡自然有了平安少了緊張感。我很感恩能夠認識神。人常說「江山易改，本性難移」，但因著依靠神我能改變自己的個性，成為更好的人。

The Lord Made Me Be A Better Person -

My name is Crystal. I came from Guangzhou, China. I used to be a timid person. My mother told me since I was a child, when guests came to visit, I would hide in the dark corner of the room and not see people until they left, or my parents pulled me out. My parents had worried that I might have introverted tendencies. When I was in elementary school, I was most afraid of receiving report card. I wasn’t afraid of the grades but the teacher’s comment, which usually was “timid, will need to speak up often.”
I had always wanted to overcome and improve this aspect of my personality. I had forced myself to speak up in classes, but often it ended up in failure. Eventually I realized that I was not only timid but also low in confidence, and I would like to compare with others and think that I was not good enough.
I immigrated to the US during middle school and knew about Jesus Christ by an accidental chance. Then I recognized the purpose of why God created man and my value in God’s heart. The bible says, “In this the love of God was manifested toward us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him.” (I John 4:9) I realized that God sent His only begotten Son from heaven to earth because of seeking me, and I was so particularly important. Slowly I stopped comparing myself to others, gained more self-confidence, and expressed myself more easily in front of others.
Now I am a graphic designer. I will usually need to do presentations in front of the public. Because of my personality, I will still be nervous when speaking in front of the crowd. My hands will shake, and my voice will quiver. Therefore, before every speech, I will pray to God. After prayers, I feel calm and peace because I know the infinite God will give me strength. I am grateful to know God. People usually say, “It is easier to change the landscape than human nature.” But through Christ, I can overcome my personality to become a better person.
